What is RideCo?

RideCo lets you book personalized, express transit service. You simply search and book a ride on our mobile app. Our technology will do the work to schedule professional transportation to fulfill your ride booking. What is unique is that you will share that ride with other passengers, therefore making it affordable—near to the cost of driving yourself. RideCo’s technology ensures that your rides will be fast, without ever being too crowded.

How is RideCo different from ride-hailing services like taxis, Uber, and Lyft?

With RideCo, your fares are more affordable and can cost up to 80% less than ride-hailing services. When you search for a ride on RideCo, we provide you a number of ride options that vary based on price, time, and location. You choose what ride suits you best. RideCo lets you book your ride in advance, and is therefore reliable and predictable. Your ride has a set pickup and arrive-before time that you see at the time of booking. This way, you can rest assured that you will get to your destination on-time.

How do I book a ride?

Download the mobile app from the Android or Apple app stores. Create an account. Enter your desired trip and press “Find Rides”. Review ride options and book the option that suits you. Shortly before your ride, use the “Track my ride” feature to see your vehicle in real-time as it comes to pick you up.

How far in advance can I book a ride?

RideCo allows you to book a ride minutes, hours, or days in advance of your ride. To obtain the best rates and availability we encourage you to book as early as possible.

What type of vehicle will I get?

A van, taxi, or private driver (similar to UberX or Lyft).

Doesn’t shared-rides mean my ride will take longer?

Yes, but only by a few minutes. The delay is minimized by ensuring that you travel with passengers going in the same direction. Your ride has a set pickup and arrive-before time that you see at the time of booking. This way, you can rest assured that you will get to your destination on-time, at the time specified in your booking.

How do I know when the driver will pick me up?

Your ride booking specifies a time window (usually 10 minutes) for pick-up. You need to be ready for your pick-up anywhere within that window. As it gets closer to the time of your ride, we will send you an updated ETA. You will also receive a notification when your vehicle has arrived. Updates are sent via SMS and the RideCo mobile app. Furthermore, you have the option to use the mobile app to track your vehicle’s location in real-time as it comes to pick you up.

How long will the driver wait?

You will receive a notification when your vehicle has arrived to pick you up. As a courtesy to your co-riders, the driver will only wait for up to 2 minutes. In order to stay on schedule the vehicle will depart if you do not show up within the 2 minute waiting period.

What if I cancel or no-show?

You can cancel your ride in advance and get a one-time use credit with the value of the paid portion of your ride, that you can use towards your next ride booking. There are no refunds. When you book a ride on RideCo you are making a commitment to the driver as they are scheduled to pick you up and may be on their way. There are no refunds for no-shows, but you will receive a one-time use credit for the paid portion of your ride.

Can I change my pickup location or destination?

You cannot change your existing ride-booking. However you can cancel your ride and apply the credit towards a new ride booking that suits your new pickup location or destination.

Can I bring luggage or pets?

You can certainly bring luggage. But please make sure you leave enough room for your co-rider’s luggage too. We ask that you do not bring pets (except service animals).

What about safety?

We keep your safety in mind in each step of the RideCo experience and either meet or exceeds all regional by-laws.

Safety begins before you even book a ride; every driver partner must pass a background check that includes a National Criminal Record Check of Federal RCMP databases as well as Local Police databases. 

Prior to your pickup, you can see your driver and vehicle details, including pictures, so you know who’s picking you up. To make it easier for you to find the RideCo car, every driver-partner will have an identifying RideCo Pin logo visibly located on the car. After each ride, you can rate the driver-partner and share feedback. These remain anonymous and are shared in aggregate form to help driver-partners improve their service. To establish accountability and service quality we regularly monitor these ratings and only allow highly rated driver-partners on the platform. Furthermore, we log the GPS coordinates of drivers and vehicles at all times through the RideCo driver-partner app.

Before using RideCo, riders are required to create an account with their credit card and personal information. We maintain a detailed record of every trip and rider. Driver-partners are not allowed to pick-up anonymous riders. Drivers can only provide RideCo service to registered users that order rides through the RideCo app.

Every ride on the RideCo platform is insured by an Ontario approved commercial ridesharing insurance policy. This coverage meets the insurance requirements for ridesharing set out in transportation bylaws in Ontario cities and includes up to $2,000,000 in liability coverage. How can the ride price be so low?

Because you are sharing a ride, the cost ends up being split a number of ways. RideCo’s technology builds optimized itineraries for our driver partners—providing them the specific sequence of passenger pick-ups and drop-offs that ensures your ride will be fast, without it ever being too crowded. These optimized itineraries increase passenger ride-sharing and reduce vehicle idle-time. The result is more affordable rides for passengers and more income for our driver partners. How is RideCo different from public transit?

With RideCo, your fares cost more than public transit, but significantly less than taxi and even UberX. It is personalized express service, which means there are no transfers and you choose when and where you want to be picked up and dropped off. RideCo’s technology ensures that your ride will be fast, without ever being too crowded. This is because the vehicles’ routes, stops and times are dynamic based on passenger demand. Our technology platform builds optimized routes for our driver partners based on passenger demand and location. These routes are adaptive—if traffic delays one car, another is re-routed to keep things moving on schedule.
